What's your name??

We have this conversation quite frequently with Max. Unfortunally nothing changes and he will not be convinced that he is not his brother. Here is how it goes:

Me: Max, what's your name?
Max: Sam
Me: No it is not- your name is Max. Can you say that?? Say Max!!
Max: Sammer

When he is older and can read, I will show him his birth certificate.

Imagination

I love it when my boys all play together. Nicely. Outside. Without screaming at eachother. This day they were defending our street from the forces of evil- as Batman, and Spiderman. The city of Sanger could rest easy that night knowing the Mansfield boys were on the job. And they do take their job very seriously!

Not Ready Yet

Max is my baby. He is growing up and is looking and acting less and less like my baby everyday. Except in one area...potty training. He wants nothing to do with it. He can't even be bribed with a lollipop. I just don't get it- all you'd have to do is mention chocolate and I would do whatever you wanted! The other day he was in the bathroom and I heard him struggling with something. I went in to check on him and he was pulling out his little potty. I asked him if he wanted to go pee and he said yes. So we pulled down his pants and off went the diaper. After sitting for a minute, he proudly stood up and announced that he went!! We were so excited and we danced around, and sang, and clapped, and rewarded him with a lollipop. I thought to myself, "wow- is this really happening??? Three kids and no diapers are heading my way! YESSSSSSS!!!" That was Wednesday night. It is now Tuesday afternoon and I am disappointed to say that was the only time since Wednesday that he has used his potty. I put him in big boy underwear on Sunday and he went pee twice and poop once with in a two hour time frame. After taking off the dirty underwear, I determined he has no clue what the "urge to go" feels like and we will try again another time. I am very disappointed, but Max is not. He likes his diaper.

Karate

We enrolled John in Karate back in August. He loves it. It has totally boosted his confidence and has helped with his coordination. He started out as a white belt, but quickly learned and perfected 10 moves so he is now a yellow belt. In fact, he just tested and passed!! Big John is not as convinced that karate can be used in "real life" situations, but I think he is wrong. If you get little john in a choke hold, he can use a karate move he has learned to get out of it and defend himself. Watch out school bullies- don't mess with this kid!

This move is called "crashing wings"

This move is "delayed sword"

Here he is taking off his old half yellow belt because he is now a full yellow belt

Bowing to show respect to his new belt

His favorite teacher Mrs. Bradley congratulating him!!

What a lucky boy to have his Mema and Papa D come all the way out to his school to support him!
